Tops Off for Cancer Display Day
|
The Gippsland Vehicle Collection opened its Maffra Motor Museum facilities to raise money for Cancer Research by holding a Tops off for Cancer Display Day raising over $2,000.oo The Maffra Branch of the Cancer Council collected donations from topless vehicle drivers and also selling everyone some food to keep them going for the day. The Bra Auction also was a highlight as everyone got into the spirit of supporting the Cancer Council. With rain all around the area, it stayed away from Maffra with even some bright sunshine moments in the afternoon. Vehicles from a 1904 De Dion, 1917 Detroit right through from a Vintage Dodge to the modern 2 door Ford and Holden convertibles were all on display along with some very nice Hot Rods and Motorcycles. The 1940 Triumph with a Watsonia Double sidecar impressed people along with the Velocette, Norton, Ariel, Matchless, Harley and the other classic motorcycles. MGs, Austin Healeys, Mazda's, Porsche, Ford Capris, Daimler, and Fiat made a great collection of Sports Vehicles. Citrons, Renault, Opel, Mercedes, Rambler and even a Mad Max car also impressed everyone. The display was well supported by a variety of hard top vehicles from small to large, the Ford Mustangs getting most of the attention along with a very nice Jaguar.
