Rods and Custom Display Day brought large crowds and great vehicles to the GVC

What a great turn-out!

Brilliant weather, the heady (but short-lived) relief of eased COVID restrictions, and the promise of an amazing line-up of vehicles inside the Museum and in its grounds, all added up to a fantastic Display Day to launch our new Rod and Custom exhibition.

Locals and travellers from the Valley and Greater Melbourne came along, many in their own special vehicles of all makes and models, for display, and the grounds twinkled with gleaming chrome and polished Duco.

Inside, the Rod and Custom vehicles generated many “wows,” “oohs” and “aahs” and got everyone talking as they wandered around the display.

“The great thing about our display days is that visitors get to enjoy not only the exhibition inside the GVC, but the incredible line-up of vehicles in the grounds, which cover all time periods, vehicle categories and tastes,” executive member, Duncan Malcolm said.

“This was one of our biggest Display Days yet, and we saw a lot of new faces as well as a lot of familiar ones.”

When we’re not in lockdown, the Gippsland Vehicle Collection is open Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 10am to 4pm, so don’t miss out on seeing the highly impressive, and obviously well-loved Rod and Custom vehicles currently on display, and learn about the evolution of Hot Rods over the decades, from their beginnings after WWII in the 1940s.

In the meantime, take a look at these great photos of some of the brilliant vehicles we all got to enjoy at the Display Day.
